Politics: Republicans Win!

Republicans scored a pair of critical victories Tuesday night, winning the governor's races in both New Jersey and Virginia.

"The Republican Party's overwhelming victory in Virginia is a blow to President Obama and the Democrat Party. It sends a clear signal that voters have had enough of the president's liberal agenda,"

  1. Although I have never been a member of a political party, I have mostly voted for republicans, because they have mostly said what I wanted to hear. But looking back on the candidates I voted for, and how they governed, I have to conclude that I might just as well have voted for liberal democrats. The republicans have given us ever larger and more powerful govenment, massive corporate bail-outs, broken promises to cut taxes, and very little action on the pro-life front.

But, you may say, the democrats are no better in regard to these issues. That's right. But the democrats at least are more honest in the promises they make about how they will govern once elected. The republicans present themselves as conservatives, and then go on to govern as democrats-lite.

The republicans are a party of socialists and statists. While the democrats want to bring in socialism more quickly, the republicans seek to implement a slower and more measured approach to turning the USA into a socialist society. Those who love freedom should support neither.

They fooled me before. They strung me along with promises of less government, lower taxes, the elimination of corporate welfare, and pledges to fight abortion. They're not going to fool me anymore.

  2. While a win by anyone against Democrats is (almost) always a positive thing, I have come to dislike the Republicans for many of the same reasons, especially on the issue of abortion. They have proven they don't have the heart for that battle. And I suspect they barely have the wherewithal to stand against the gay marriage movement for very long, in spite of the 31-0 voting record of the states against it. I, too, do not trust them. Sometimes they are little more than the lesser of two evils. But they are still evil. Anybody care to suggest a third party for us to join?
